Prom Night Character Analysis

I chose to analyse chracters from this film as like our storyline, there is a female main character along with a stalker/killer.

In Prom Night (2008) the main character is a blonde, attractive female whom is surrounded by supportive friendships and relationships. As the main character, she typically shows bravery and independence which fits into the stereotype of main protagonists however she also rejects conventions of a 'typical blonde' by being intelligent and able to overcome obsticles within the film. Within the film, some of the most thrilling moments/shots which she is seen within are near mirrors, windows or dark spaces such as wardrobes. This influenced our window and mirror shots as it conventionally suggests there is something unknown or a threat in the darkness behind the character.

 

We had originially planned for the main actress in our production to be blonde, which would be more typical of the genre however our actress was unavailable to use.

Another key character in this film, is the best friend, whom most resembles the actress we plan to use in our own production. Her hair is brown, long and mostly always shown down along with having significantly blue eyes which distinguish her from the other characters. This is similar to the actress we are using as well as them both also being shown as caring characters who are independent within friendships, home life and relationships along with being someone to rely on and whom's death would be emotional or significant to others.
