Analysis of Questionnaire

From analysing the below questionnaire, we concluded a set of results which we would base and influence our work upon.

The majority of people who filled in our questionnaire were female, however this was down to chance and opportunity of who would be available to complete the questions. Relating to this, many people who we asked were aged 15-17, however this was also dependent on availability.

For those who told us they did not enjoy films of the thriller genre, we discovered they would become more interested if there was more use of attractive characters so we should consider this in the making of our actual production. For those who did already enjoy thriller films, we found that they would prefer to see a thriller which had stereotypical conventions rather than challenging them, as well as choosing murder as a preferred sub-genre within the thriller.

Participants preferred a human antagonist as apposed to a paranormal force and for this antagonist to be an unknown character, they would also prefer for the victims within the film to be a group of people rather than just one character. A mixture of mainly females, or both genders should be considered when making our film as they were both the preferred options for the sex of characters within the film.

When we asked people for films which they instantly thought of when hearing the word 'thriller' some of the results we received were: The Children, Sorority Row, The Roommate. Therefore we should watch some of these trailers and consider the elements they include within their trailers when making our own.

In terms of the actual production, participants from the questionnaire would prefer a complex trailer filled with suspense as well as including a range of details such as characters involved  and release dates which we should consider to please our audience as well as making the trailer look realistic. With camera work, those who we asked would prefer to see 3rd person, professional-looking camera work where the audience is unaware of who is filming.

From all of the information we obtained, we should consider a teen, murder or mystery film which follows conventions of a thriller, we should find a group of actors both male and female to partake in our production and allow influences from other thrillers but keep an original focus and idea.
